Event Brief

The exploration and production activities in oil and gas industry have increased aggressively with escalating oil prices in the past few years. Technology advancement has allowed operators to tap into more challenging oil fields, at the same time, redeveloping mature sites for hydrocarbon potential. With growing competition for available basins locally and internationally, oil and gas companies have to make quick decisions that generate high ROI, as the stakes for each exploration and development activity is very high.

While data managers churn out terabytes of information for experts to generate meaningful results, geostatistics analysis is often a complex and challenging process. From market research, the most challenging task in geostatistics analysis lies in constructing data models, integration of petroleum data sets and interpretation of results.

As complicated as it sounds, geo-personnel should learn a range of modeling methods and fine tune the preferred model that works best for a given situation in order to generate a meaningful and accurate results for decision making.

Benefits of Attending

The 3-day interactive training course is specially designed for geo-personnel who have to do extensive data modeling, integration and interpretation for exploration activities.

The course will examine the various techniques to data modeling and integration to derive understanding on reservoir properties and seismic attributes. It will also discuss on different simulation methodologies, which are well-developed and extensively used in mitigating risk of uncertainties.

Trainer

DR. OSCAR RONDON

Senior Consultant Geostatistician
SNOWDEN GROUP

Dr. Oscar Rondon (PhD, MSc) has extensive experience as a consultant and researcher in the oil industry.

His experience includes geostatistical characterisation of petroleum reservoirs, neural networks applications in real reservoir studies, seismic guided estimation and conditional simulation of reservoir properties, and extensive experience in training within all these areas of expertise. Before joining Snowden in 2005, Oscar Rondon worked for 11 years in the Venezuelan national oil industry (PDVSA) as a researcher and in-house consultant.

Dr Rondon has published several articles in per review journals varying from reservoir characterization till novel applications of non supervised neural networks.

He has a PhD in Mathematics and Probability, and a degree in Petroleum Geostatistics from the Ecole des Mines de Paris.
