Event Brief

Throughout the whole O&G industry, exploration programs and production plan commonly fail to achieve their anticipated success rates, resulting in higher than anticipated finding costs.

Well-bore failure, reservoir uncertainties, lost circulation, which can cost millions of dollars and hundreds of man hours overnight, are nightmares haunting the O&G operators.  O&G companies are forced to seek for practical and effective basin analysis techniques to facilitate better geological interpretations and predictions, which will translate into higher drilling success rates.

Benefits of Attending

The objective of this 3-day training course is to improve the accuracy of basin evaluation and reservoir assessment and to achieve better control of exploration and production risks.  This specially designed training course will address the top risks confronting O&G operators prior to drilling and production, including trap and seal quality, reservoir stability, as well as hydrocarbon charge and migration.

This intensive course will also present the latest advancement of quantitative basin analysis techniques on tackling the potential production problems, including reservoir description techniques, burial history reconstruction and thermal modelling, log analysis techniques, reservoir modelling and simulation techniques, etc.

Trainer

Mohammad Reza Kamali

Director of Center for Exploration and Production Studies and Research
Research Institute of Petroleum Industry, Iran

With more than 20 years experience in O&G industry and research, Dr. Kamali is a popular short course instructor with O&G industry on the topics of Petroleum Geology, Reservoir characterization, Reservoir Quality and Organic Geochemistry in petroleum exploration.

Dr. Kamali has been in close technical cooperation with O&G institutes and companies in Australia, Japan and India. He has three registered patents and extensive publications.

Some of Dr. Kamali’s recent milestone:
  • Petroleum System study & Basin Modelling in Persian Gulf
  • Determination of oil families based on biomarker fingerprints in the Zagros Basin
  • Investigation on Petroleum Geochemistry of candidate source rocks and related oil seeps in Central Alborz Basin
  • Reservoir characterization of Qum Formation, Alborz Field, Yorte-shah, Central Iran.
  • Burial history reconstruction and thermal modelling in Iranian oil and gas fields
  • Application of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) for estimation of petrophysical parameters in several oil and gas fields
  • Application Neuro-Fazzy technique in determining TOC in organic-rich source rocks

Other Achievements
  • Received the first rank award for research from the Ministries of Petroleum and Science, Research and technology for the year 2002
